With over 23 years of experience in private equity, operations, management consulting, and investment banking, Jerry Pence has vast experience and a proven track-record for delivering returns to shareholders. He has acquired 11 companies with revenues totaling $1.6 billion, $132 million of deployed equity, resulting in an 8.4x cash-on-cash to investors.
Jerry is the Managing Partner of Balanced Capital Partners focused on leading the company’s vision and culture. He oversees deal originations, capital formations, and transaction negotiations working extensively with portfolio company leadership teams to facilitate disruptive strategies. He was also instrumental putting in place the firm’s world-class talent sourcing and leadership development partnerships.
Prior to forming Balanced Capital Partners, Jerry was the CEO of Bleuwave, a company that combined capital formation services with construction capabilities for facilities-based businesses seeking to grow. Before that he was the President of Longboard Asset Management where he successfully restructured the company and put in place their new 5-year strategic roadmap.
Prior to 2016, Jerry was the head of private equity at The Pivotal Group, a family office in Phoenix, AZ. While at The Pivotal Group, he successfully developed and led a middle-market value-oriented investment strategy. The focus of the approach was to acquire businesses with unique technologies to drive sustainable organic growth. The Pivotal Group continues to follow this investment philosophy.
Prior to joining The Pivotal Group in 2009, Jerry was a partner at Najafi Companies, a Phoenix-based private equity firm. His previous experiences include positions with Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch, focused on mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, for The Boston Consulting Group, he concentrated on strategy formation for companies in the technology, energy, and healthcare sectors.
Jerry has served on the board of directors of Network Solutions, Global Capacity, Direct Brands, Innovative Brands, Trend Homes, NxTV, Pan Am Education, and Longboard Asset Management, among others.
Jerry is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. The Pence’s have two kids ages 11 and 10 and will do anything to spend time in Costa Rica.
