Melanie Cary has over 30 years of advisory, senior management and operations experience in the enterprise application software industry.
Melanie is currently an independent consultant where she leverages her experience to assist clients and individuals with their operational and life goals. As either a board member, executive advisor and/or management coach, Melanie’s role as a trusted advisor and strategic thought-partner allows her to guide her clients towards exceptional performance and personal satisfaction. Some of her clients include: Investedge, a wealth management technology provider, SS&C, an investment management technology leader, Admittor, a provider of college admissions software and Invector, a risk management software start-up. Melanie was also an executive advisor and served as Chairman of the Board for Cadec Global, the market leader in the development and deployment of advanced mobile-technology solutions for managing distributed assets. She was also a venture partner for Thule Investments, an Icelandic Venture Capital firm, where she assisted with identifying and due diligence for investment opportunities.
Prior to this, Melanie spent over 10 years at Advent Software, the leading provider of portfolio management and trade order solutions to investment management institutions. While at Advent, she was instrumental in helping the organization grow from $17 million to over $170 million in annual revenue, achieving a market capitalization of well over one billion dollars. Melanie managed a team of 400 and was directly responsible for professional services, customer support, cient sales, alliances and product management. Melanie also participated in due diligence and integration projects relating to several of Advent’s strategic acquisitions over the period.
Prior to Advent, Melanie was with Dun & Bradstreet Software, where she spent over 5 years in various senior management roles, including professional services, sales support, marketing and corporate reengineering. Before joining DBS, Melanie was with Deloitte Haskins and Sells as a management consultant serving the financial services industry. In this role, she specialized in conducting operational efficiency studies and assisting customers with the evaluation and implementation of application software.
Melanie has a BSBA in Finance and an MBA in Financial Management from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Melanie and her husband Phil live in Tequesta, Florida. They have 2 grown children, their daughter Lauren works in human resources for Milliken in Spartanburg, SC and their son Ryan lives in Santa Monica, CA, where he works in technology sales for Oracle. Melanie and Phil also own a tennis club in town where they both enjoy playing tennis. Melanie also loves running, boating and playing with her 3 dogs.
